What if?

In one of my quiet moments just before going to sleep, when everyone in the house was in dreamworld, I got to ask myself, "What if we hadn't migrated?" It was a question begging for an answer.

Well, if we hadn't migrated, I'd now be the head of Assumption College's Higher Ed Learning Resource Center (I was being groomed for the post when I left); I'd still be writing for and reviewing gadgets for Manila Bulletin's TechNews; I'd still be teaching part-time for PNU; I'd still be active with my advocacies - information literacy and IT for development; I'd still be participating in the programs of the NGO Educational Outreach Through e-Learning; I'd still be driving a 19-yr. old Toyota Corolla; I'd still be blogging actively; and I'd still be complaining of soaring utility bills and low wages.

But if we hadn't migrated and stayed in the Philippines, there's one thing I wouldn't have now: my baby!
